Hospital Bag Checklist for Mums-to-be in Ghana

Aim to have your hospital bag packed by around 34–36 weeks. Many Ghanaian hospitals also provide their own list, so check with your facility.

For mum

• Hospital card, ID and NHIS card
• Comfortable nightgowns or front-opening dresses
• Maternity pads and disposable underwear
• Nursing bras and breast pads
• Slippers, toiletries, towel and a wrapper/cloth
• Snacks, water and a phone charger

For baby

• 3–4 bodysuits and sleepsuits
• Hats, socks and mittens
• Receiving blankets and a shawl
• Newborn diapers and wipes
• An infant car seat for the trip home

For your partner

• Change of clothes, snacks and cash/MoMo
• Important phone numbers
